Before pursuing a career in the legal sector, Kieran obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Literature from Nanyang Technological University where he obtained Upper Second-Class Honours.

 

Kieran then graduated from the Juris Doctor Program at Singapore Management University in 2020 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2021.

 

Prior to completing his practice training contract with PDLegal LLC, Kieran interned with several law firms where he gained additional exposure to arbitration, construction disputes, company law, and corporate practice.

Work Highlights

Commercial Matters

  • Assisted a client in investigating the potential mismanagement of his investment portfolio worth several million US dollars. This involved investigating their accounts as well as transactions conducted by the bank over an extensive period. The matter is ongoing.
  • Assisted in a claim commenced against an insurance company for breach of contract. The matter is ongoing.
  • Assisted in advising a client in relation to claims brought against his company, and against him personally as a Director. The matter is ongoing.

Shipping and Admiralty Law

  • Assisted in preparing for the trial of a reef grounding claim made against Ship owners. This was the first such case to be heard in the Singapore Courts. The matter is currently ongoing.
  • Assisted in advising a client on Third Party claims brought for damage caused by a Vessel during its berthing.

Corporate Matters

  • Assisted in reviewing and advising a foreign company on its Long-Term Offtake agreement and evaluating it alongside international standards

Criminal Matters

  • Assisted in advising clients in relation to charges brought by the Ministry of Manpower under the Workplace Safety and Health Act. This involved advocating for the clients to reach a just and fair outcome.
  • Assisted in advising clients on their legal position in relation to charges brought by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore under the Goods and Services Tax Act.
