Sathya graduated from the University of Durham with a Bachelor of Laws Second Class Honours (Upper) 2019. He was admitted to the Singapore Bar in August 2021.

 

Sathya had trained and worked in the litigation departments of two of Singapore’s largest firms, where he had assisted with international arbitrations and with trials in the Singapore High Court, covering a variety of subject matters.

Work Highlights

  • Acted for the liquidators for a company involved in Singapore’s largest Ponzi scheme in a related litigation before the High Court.
  • Acted for a large Indian MNC in a High Court matter involving the maintenance and upgrading of a private aircraft.
  • Acted for clear aligner providers in a High Court Intellectual Property matter involving fair use brought by one of the world’s largest clear aligner providers.
  • Assisted Counsel in a High Court construction claim and counterclaim for a large offshore and marine group regarding the construction and late completion of a pipelaying vessel.
  • Acted for the Applicant in an International Arbitration for regarding a loan agreement. An award was successfully obtained and enforced in the Singapore Courts.
  • Assisted Turkish lawyers in an International Arbitration in the SIAC by preparing an opening statement and a summary of Singapore law.
  • Assisted Counsel in an International Arbitration in acting for the Respondent in a claim brought by one of Asia’s largest leisure and entertainment companies involving a partnership agreement for the operation of a casino.
  • Acted for and advised a Big Four accountancy firm in matters regarding the resignation and release of one of its directors from multiple appointments, including that of liquidator, receiver and manager, and private trustee.
  • Assisted Counsel in acting for an offshore vessel owner and operator regarding the proposing and passing of a scheme of arrangement, as well as its implementation.
